These checkpoints come from the demonstration. Replay the movement before tightening a hidden crossing.

01. Make the hanging-loop connection
Leave a long hanging loop above the working ends. Work the shown flat-knot passage around the right-hand cord to begin its lower connection.

02. Set the loop above the header
Close the small connection and keep the two working lengths separate below it. Preserve the hanging loop while laying the header.

03. Pin the header lattice
Arrange the upright folds and horizontal returns for the woven header. Keep the loose crossings open on the board.

04. Close the woven header
Finish the remaining returns and release the pins. Transfer slack through the outer folds to compact the woven face.

05. Balance the header loops
Inspect the compact face and small side ears. Keep the hanging loop upright and the lower ends available for the ornament fittings.

06. Add the gourd-shaped bead
Thread the hanging assembly through the shown bead. Position it directly below the woven header and keep the coin-working ends separated.

07. Attach the first coin
Pass the working cord through the central opening of the first coin. Keep its orientation visible as you place the return around it.

08. Continue the five-coin row
Repeat the demonstrated connection for the remaining coins. Align the five faces in a row and tighten their connections gradually.

09. Wind the tassel bundle
Wrap the fine tassel thread around a firm book or card. Keep the turns parallel so the bundle has an even length.

10. Release and support the bundle
Lift the wound thread off its form and use the small stick to support the upper fold. Keep the strands together for binding.

11. Bind the tassel head
Gather the bundle below its upper fold and form the capped head with the binding thread. Keep the wraps close together.

12. Trim the binding ends
Draw the binding return through and close the wrapped head. Cut the surplus binding ends as shown without cutting the hanging connection.

13. Add the contrasting neck wrap
Work the gold binding around the lower edge of the tassel cap. Keep the turns parallel while completing its return.

14. Smooth the tassel strands
Straighten the loose fringe and settle the head below the coin row. Spread out tangled strands before cutting the lower edge.

15. Trim the lower fringe evenly
Gather the straightened fringe and cut the lower edge to an even line. Inspect the binding and the tassel connection.

16. Check the assembled ornament
Inspect the hanging loop, woven header, bead, five-coin row and capped tassel as one piece. Align the elements and make the final small adjustments.
Check your finished piece
- The hanging loop and woven header hold their shape.
- Five coins are aligned and securely retained by the cord passages.
- The capped tassel is connected, smoothly gathered and evenly trimmed.
