Snake Knot
Work with two cord ends to build a short row of compact repeated knots. The close-up demonstrates the first unit slowly, then repeats the same sequence.

01. Pinch the starting fold
Hold the small upper loop and separate the two hanging ends beneath it.

02. Leave a loop around one end
Curve one hanging end around the other. Keep the new loop large enough to receive the remaining end.

03. Return the other end through
Bring the other end through the opening in the loose wrap. Pull it clear while holding the crossings.

04. Start the next unit
Curve a working end again just below the first tightened unit. Keep this new opening loose.

05. Feed the paired end back
Pass the remaining end into the open loop shown beside your fingers. Maintain the same orientation as the first unit.

06. Close the second unit
Pull the ends in small amounts and push the new knot up against the previous one.

07. Repeat for a short row
Continue the same loop-and-return sequence. Compare the repeated surface and settle the knots together with gentle tension.
Before you move on
- Each new unit sits directly against the previous unit.
- The repeated knots form an even, compact row.
- The small upper fold remains above the row.
