01. Form the neighboring loop
Hold the first upright loop and bring a second curved section beside it. Pinch the shared base so the two openings remain visible.

02. Bring the working cord across
Curve the working strand across the base of the two loops. Leave the crossing loose and preserve both upper openings.

03. Keep the lower opening loose
A temporary opening hangs below the two ears. Hold the center while preparing the working end for the next passage.

04. Draw through the central passage
Bring the working end through the demonstrated opening and draw it outward. Watch 18–25 seconds for the exact entry while the fingers cover part of the center.

05. Seat the center
Pull small amounts of slack out of the central crossing. Keep the two ears open rather than tightening them into the body.

06. Balance the two ears
Hold the center and adjust the two remaining loops. Move slack between them until neither side looks much larger.

07. Inspect the compact result
Compare the final paired ears and small center with the demonstration. Let both tails run down from the knot.
Before you move on
- Two main ears remain visible above the center.
- The center is compact and the ears are balanced.
- The large temporary lower opening has been drawn into the knot.
