Build the eight-loop star route on a pin board, using the numbered diagram to track its crossings. After completing the loose route, release the pins and follow the cord around the centre to balance all eight outer loops.
What you will need
- One smooth, flexible practice cord; the demonstration uses a gold cord.
- A pinnable knotting board and pins.
- A pointed cord tool or small pliers for drawing slack through the compact crossings.
Record what works for your cord
Write down its type, diameter and starting length, then the size after tightening. The printed result helps you compare the outline; it does not set the physical scale or show the hidden route. Follow the demonstration for threading and gradual tightening.
